I was fascinated by the colors, textures and smells of the food in China. I would sit for hours at restaurants, parks and tea shops and sketch the dishes I or others had ordered. Eventually, I began sketching arrangements of food and pairing them with drinks . I would arrange compositions that combined specific experiences I had while traveling through China. The foods then became the symbolic representations of the varied and complex Chinese culture I had experienced.
